Insurance Defense Typically insurers reserve to themselves the right to control the defense of a lawsuit against their policyholder, including the choice of which lawyer to appoint as defense counsel. I have been defending insurers and their policyholders for over 20 years, and have experience in all phases of claims. I have defended cases under commercial, professional and personal lines, as well as workers' compensation. As company counsel, I have defended bad faith, unfair and deceptive settlement practices and extra-contractual damages claims. I am a member of several defense organizations, including the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, Defense Research Institute and the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association.
